How to pack

The New York Marathon offers a unique and exhilarating experience, with a diverse route that showcases the city's iconic landmarks, including the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, Central Park and Times Square. Runners can expect enthusiastic crowds cheering them on throughout the course, creating an incredible atmosphere of support and encouragement.

Before the race. NY weather is unpredictable. This race has historically been a blistering day as it usually falls on the first day of Fall. Bring slides and stay off your feet. New York is a stressful place and you will see all the sites on your run.

Take some time to pamper yourself with a Massage at Fishion or at SYK Skin.

Day of : Pack some throw away clothes and make sure they are warm. Bundle up with the items that you don’t mind donating. If the day is extremely cold, check the Dunkin Donuts booth, at the starting line, for free gloves and hats. Remember that if you check you bag, you have to walk an additional mile to pick it up. If you get the cape, you are able to exit Central Park sooner but you still have to maneuver around the city.

Think about your kit. Put your name on your shirt so that the entire city screams your name. If you don’t have time to get it printed, use duct tape across the front of your singlet. Gear up on the right things like Near Earth running socks, a running pouch that can fit your phone and gels, and something to keep the sweat out your face. I like going to Front General Store  for a new bandana that compliments my kit. If you do pack a bag, roll your massage gun in your clothes and throw a lacrosse ball and sheet mask. Treat yourself IMMEDIATELY after your victory.
